The exposure of Anonymous FTP

FTP is often configured to allow anonymous access. Some variants even default to allowing it. Anonymous access enables users (and hackers) to access the server via FTP without providing proper logon credentials.

Servers allowing Anonymous FTP are targets for hackers distributing pirated video and music. FTP attacks almost always include an attempt to log on anonymously.

FTP/Sentry’s user ID view provides quick access to the answer whether and how much anonymous FTP access actually is happening.

Double-click on the “anonymou” user ID to see Anonymous FTP activity.
